Distractions

Every year at Tororo Junior High School in Reihoku, a tiny school of a little more than 20 students, holds English Activity Day, on which they invite all the Amakusa ALTs for a day of fun. I needed that and was pleased to go.

Notre commission scolaire ne nous permet d'y aller qu'une seule fois, et normalement j'aurais dû y aller l'an dernier, mais mon gentil superviseur de ce temps-là avait décidé de ne pas m'envoyer pour permettre à Sara d'y aller une seconde fois... mais bon, passons.

Le matin, question game for the teams of students to find which ALT they would spend the day with. That was my team:Puis, différents jeux de communication pour stimuler l'utilisation de l'anglais (mimes, fais-moi un dessin, explications, chasse au trésor...). On n'a pas gagné, mais on a eu du fun en torpinouche! And the students, although they were only 1nensei, did a really great job!
Then, eating with the kids, and more and more questions asked. Fascinated by pictures of snow, those kids were!

En après-midi, atelier de calligraphie. Chaque ALT (on était 8) avait choisi un atelier culturel au préalable, and the students became the teachers. They had to explain in english, and mine did a wonderful job. J'ai appris à écrire le kanji pour « espoir »:
My rough copy was a lot better than this one, because of the kind of paper used, but eh, it was still my first time doing it, and i think it's not too bad for a lefty!
Et maintenant un gros plan:
C'est mon nom en kanji, et c'est pas « roue », mais bien « magnifique tissu ». C'est moins drôle mais pas mal plus beau. And one of the kids carved the first kanji in a stone so i can use it as an inkan, tested here in red. I was so happy!! Those kids were great! And a nice and appreciated twist to the routine...
